Contrary to their name Margot & The Nuclear So & So’s have no members named Margot… technically it’s not even female fronted. This album is actually their first LP from back in 2006, but they’ve released three more full length’s since then with a rumored fourth on the way.
Some of the songs have a light country twang, but then none at all on others. Some of the male/female vocal combinations remind me of a less depressing and mellow dramatic version of Lydia, which I say in the most positive way possible. Songs like “Jen Is Bringing The Drugs” is in the same vein as Bright Eyes… take that as you will.
Really my only critique of this album is that it’s not as cohesive as I might have wished. But it passes on account that the various vibes each appeal to my often bi-polar musical tastes. All in all it’s worth checking out and if you keep an eye on AmazonMp3′s $5 monthly albums this one is on there quite often.
